As part of our Legal and Governance team, you will ensure that privacy legislation is upheld across the organisation and foster a strong privacy culture. Your role will be key in aligning privacy management with our mission, values, and strategic objectives. You will report directly to the Legal and Compliance Manager. **Key Responsibilities**: - Provide expert advice on privacy laws (State and Federal) and ensure compliance. - Oversee information requests from stakeholders and manage privacy-related incidents. - Develop and implement privacy frameworks, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with legislation. - Lead Privacy Impact Assessments and collaborate with IT and Cybersecurity teams to protect data privacy. - Deliver privacy training, communications, and maintain records of privacy incidents. - Contribute to the Security and Privacy Oversight Committee and action outcomes. - Foster a culture of privacy awareness and collaboration across the organisation. **Key Selection Criteria**: **Essential**: - Degree qualification or equivalent experience. - Strong knowledge of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Australian Privacy Principles, and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). - Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role with responsibility for privacy compliance. - Expertise in developing privacy policies, frameworks, and managing data breaches. - Proven leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and deliver strategic outcomes. - Experience in advising senior stakeholders and delivering high-level presentations. - Current Drivers’ licence **Desirable**: - Certifications such as CIPP or CIPM. - Experience within the not-for-profit sector. **Personal History Checks**: - National Police Certificate. - Working with Children (Blue Card). - Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS). - National Personal Insolvency Check. **Why Churches of Christ?** We offer the opportunity to be part of a community-focused, values-driven organisation where you can make a real difference.
