**The Role**
The key duties of the position include:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the budget for Portfolio Budget Statement Bid.
- Financial Management - end of month financial analysis and reporting including maintain individual Unit budget and forecasting spreadsheets with emphasis on resource allocation and forecasting requirements.
- Provide variance commentary on monthly performance.
- Process correction journals including request to raise invoice.
- Assist with Gifts Benefits and Sponsorship reporting and approvals.
- Assist with mandatory travel approval and reporting requirements.
- Provide guidance on credit card acquittals and necessary policy in support of making payments using Commonwealth Credit Cards.
- Developing standard operating procedures to document and improve work processes.
- Supporting the Director as required.
**About our Team**
The APS 5 Budget and Resource officer works within the Business Management team reporting directly to the Resource Manager. You will be part of a small team responsible for day to day resource management procedures, including the training and education of staff to ensure compliance and continuous improvements across financial management practices.
The team is responsible for all financial aspects including financial policy guidance on travel, credit cards, procurements and contracts management, accounts receivable, debt management and accounts payable.
Liaising with stakeholders (both ADC internal and Defence Finance group Business partner), you will develop an understanding of business requirements and concerns in line with Defence mission and business objectives.
Team members collaborate, as well as work autonomously to prioritise and deliver results across the division to ensure high quality advice and support to ADC executive in business management functions.
- An understanding of the Commonwealth Financial Framework (preferred, not essential), including:
- Accountable Authority Instructions;
- Financial Delegations; and
- Financial policies.
