**The Role**
The APS 4 - 5 Librarian is responsible for implementing and delivering consistently high-quality library and information services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) serving; reserve members, internal Australian Public Service (APS) personnel and foreign exchange officers.

The role requires the individual to work as part of a local team in high tempo physical library, and more broadly a national team that works collaboratively to achieve customer-centric outcomes and facilitates a national integrated service delivery culture.

The role is responsible for the following:

- Providing high level and complex research assistance;
- Delivering customer education and training sessions;
- Creation and curation of alerting services;
- Contributing to an integrated service delivery culture that supports innovation and collaboration;
- Identifying, analysing, and testing new technologies, products and services;
- Developing policy; and
- Performing general circulation, cataloguing, collection maintenance and document delivery tasks.

**About our Team**
The Defence Library Service (DLS) is part of the Defence Library Service and Service Centres (DLSSC) Directorate which sits within the Defence Customer Service Network (CSN).

The DLS team is responsible for the delivery of a nationally consistent, contemporary library and information service. The library is responsible for the collection, maintenance and provision of information to support the diverse requirements of the Department of Defence.

The APS 4 - 5 Librarian will work as part of a nationally dispersed team comprising approximately 15 staff. The position is located at the Australian Defence College Weston Creek and will report to the APS 6 Library Manager located onsite.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in undertaking and completing complex research;
- Experience in the use of Library Systems, services and products;
- Experience in the creation and delivery of customer training and information sessions;
- Highly developed communication, organisation and negotiation skills;
- Experience in stakeholder and customer engagement and liaison;
- Demonstrated ability to identify and assess new products and technologies to support continuous improvement;
- Experience with collection management, document delivery and lending services; and
- Experience in working collaboratively across large and dispersed teams.

- Adaptable, flexible, innovative and willing to learn.

Self-drive travel between different sites and locations may be required; applicants may require a current Driver’s Licence.
