**About the role**:
We’re on the hunt for a Payroll Manager to join our Payroll team based in Melbourne. Reporting into the General Manager - Finance and working closely with the People & Culture team, the purpose of the Payroll Manager is to effectively manage the organisation’s payroll function, systems, and team. This role oversees the effective and efficient use, management, and maintenance of payroll and workforce data through various workflows held within SCA’s Human Resources Information System/s (HRIS).

**What you’ll be doing**:
**Systems Implementation: Initial 9-12 months - Project activities include**:

- Working closely with the Payroll team, Finance and HRIS Project team, key responsibility will be to participate in the implementation of the Ceridian, Dayforce Payroll.
- Understand current SCA Payroll process to translate this for use in Dayforce Payroll.
- Participate in design and configuration of the system, working closely with external implementation consultants and internal project team.
- Define all business process changes because of the system implementation, support in building workflows, user guides and supporting literature.
- Undertake data conversion/cleansing from existing systems following migration.
- Prepare payroll test scripts, undertake systems testing and facilitate UAT testing scenarios with key stakeholders.

**Day to Day Activities: Post Implementation (post 12-months)**:

- Management of entire payroll function including calculation and payment of superannuation to funds as nominated by employees of SCA.
- Ensure SCA meet their obligations in terms of ATO payroll legislation and Superannuation Guarantee Contributions.
- Manage and supervise direct reports within the payroll team, providing regular coaching, training, and mentoring to support their individual development goals and needs.
- Provide the Head of People & Culture and broader team with advice on legislative and award compliance including awards, tax compliance and superannuation.
- Work closely with Finance Business Partners on the reconciliation of payroll and any queries relating to the payroll function.
- Payment and reconciliation of bonus payments as directed.
- Calculation, payment and reconciliation of payroll tax, group tax and workers compensation calculation for all jurisdictions in Australia.

**Experience we’re looking for**:

- Minimum 5+ years payroll experience within a similar role in an organisation of 1,500 + employees.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and leading a high-performing payroll team and function.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong systems skills and willingness to learn new technology, experience with Chris21, PageUp and Ceridian is highly desirable.
- Exceptional attention to detail, approaches work in a systematic, consistent, and methodical manner.
