We are seeking an experienced Strategic Commercial Lead to take on a critical role in our Canberra office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice on procurement planning, tendering, and contract formation while ensuring compliance with legislation and policy.
  • Draft, review, and advise on complex contracting correspondence, reports, and submissions.
  • Mentor colleagues on technical and commercial risk principles and Defence performance frameworks.
  • Apply risk and performance management frameworks to procurement and contracting activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies for complex contracting issues.
  • Evaluate risks and design mitigation strategies to ensure contract performance and compliance.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex procurement challenges.
  • Provide expertise to support contract negotiations.
  • Develop negotiation strategies to achieve Defence procurement outcomes.

This is a 12-month plus extension role that requires the successful candidate to be an Australian citizen with NV1 clearance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in procurement and contracting.
  • Strong understanding of Defence performance frameworks and technical risk principles.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Australian citizenship.
  • NV1 clearance.
