Chubb is a world leader in insurance, with operations in 54 countries and territories. We are seeking a Claims Examiner - Personal Lines to join our team. The primary purpose of this role is to produce a high-quality work product on Personal Lines Claims through prompt and professional contact with customers and brokers, and through the effective investigation, reserving, and adjustment of claims incurred by insureds.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of claims for Personal Lines claims as allocated and analyze first reports to determine the nature of the loss, coverage provided, and scope of damage.
- Assess claims in accordance with Chubb's service level and quality requirements and the General Insurance Code of Practice, including determining coverage, reserving within timeframes, making payments, responding to customer queries, providing updates, and requesting additional information as needed to manage a claim.
- Communicate by telephone and written correspondence to brokers, claimants, and others as required.
- Promptly and properly document all developments on the claim workstation file.
- Take part in Claim Department and companywide training as required.
- Seek technical assistance in handling claims exceeding delegated authority.
- Respond to enquiries and escalations of matters from underwriters, brokers, and customers, and work with underwriters, the Compliance Department, and other departments of the company as needed.
- Proactively apply claims policies and procedures, including Chubb's policy in relation to fraud, salvage, cost containment, and complaints.
- Exercise good judgment in reaching the final disposition of a claim by evaluating the nature of the loss, liability, damage, coverage provided, and applicable limits.
- Effectively negotiate compromise settlements where appropriate.
- Participate in claims meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Effectively control the use, work product, and expense of outside vendors.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualified.
- Investigation techniques.
- Written and verbal communication related to claims handling.
- Insurance contracts.
- Legal requirements and regulations.
- Damage and/or loss evaluation.
- Negotiation skills.
- Litigation procedures.
- Reserving skills.
- Chubb claim philosophy.
- Capable of participating in audits.
