At Chubb Insurance Australia Limited, we're seeking a skilled Property Claims Examiner to join our team. As a key member of our claims handling team, you'll be responsible for investigating, reserving, and adjusting medium to large Commercial Property claims in a prompt and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and assess Commercial Property claims to determine the extent of damage and quantum
  • Communicate with customers and brokers to gather information and provide updates on claim progress
  • Adhere to the General Insurance Code of Practice and Chubb's obligations under its AFSL, as it applies to Claims Handling as a Financial Service
  • Build strong relationships with brokers to promote confidence and trust in Chubb's claims service
  • Liaise with service providers, such as builders and restoration companies, to ensure a smooth claim process
  • Identify and report potential fraud and subrogation issues
  • Effectively manage and control the volume of work and diary
  • Conduct investigations of all aspects of reported claims, including potential fraud, and secure and/or file all supporting documentation
  • Establish accurate and timely reserves
  • Seek technical assistance in handling claims exceeding delegated authority
  • Maintain an active diary and monitor it to achieve timely development of the file and timely disposition of the claim
  • Promptly and properly document all developments in the claims documentation system
  • Exercise good judgment in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, damage, coverage provided, and applicable limits
  • Effectively negotiate compromise settlements where appropriate

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification (Degree preferred)
  • Relevant Industry Qualifications (ANZIIF) or studying towards
  • 3+ years' experience in handling Personal Lines or Commercial Property Claims
  • Written and verbal communication related to claims handling
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to influence and negotiate
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word/Excel and ability to construct claim reports as required
  • Ability to manage self and time effectively
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
