Chubb is a world leader in insurance, with operations in 54 countries and territories. We're seeking a skilled Claims Examiner to join our team in Financial Lines. As a Claims Examiner, you'll be responsible for investigating, reserving, and adjusting claims within your client base.
Your Key Responsibilities:- Analyse first reports of claim, suit, or underlying material to determine the nature of loss, coverage provided, and scope of damage
- Conduct or direct needed investigations relative to all aspects of reported claims, securing and verifying supporting documentation for accuracy, relationship, and completeness
- Establish accurate and timely reserves, maintaining an active diary to achieve timely development of files and timely disposition
- Provide exceptional service standards in line with best practice guidelines, practising sound litigation controls over counsel
- Promptly and properly document all developments in claim files, meeting with appropriate parties to litigation or claims as necessary to resolve issues
- Effectively communicate with the Claim Department, Customer Services, Loss Control, Underwriting Departments, brokers, insureds, counsel, third parties, and their legal representatives
- May direct claim representatives to participate in file development and subrogation, adhering to the Insurance Contracts Act and all other relevant statutory rules and regulations
- Exercise good judgment in reaching final disposition of claims by evaluating the nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage provided, and applicable limits
- Participate in branch marketing efforts, performing such other duties as may be delegated by the Claims Manager
- A tertiary qualification, preferably a law degree, is desirable but not required
- Investigation techniques, written and verbal communication skills relative to claims handling, insurance policies, and the Insurance Contracts Act
- Legal requirements and regulations, damage and/or loss evaluation, negotiations
