We are seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to fill the role of Mental Health Clinician. In this position, you will be working with parents and their infants who are experiencing significant mental health issues.
The Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service (PIMHS) is a specialist perinatal mental health service that provides time-limited, intensive specialist support through direct patient care, home visiting, and in-reach into maternity services. This service caters for parents and infants experiencing severe or complex perinatal mental health disorders.
This is a temporary opportunity to work in the PIMHS Service. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting the needs of parents of infants who are experiencing significant mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities- To provide high-quality clinical advice and support to parents and their infants.
- To develop and implement effective treatment plans that cater to the individual needs of each client.
- To collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- To contribute to the development of education tools and programs to support others in providing service excellence.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
In order to succeed in this role, you must have:
- A degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or Nursing, with extensive postgraduate clinical experience in mental health.
- Previous experience in working with families of infants who are experiencing severe and complex psychosocial and psychiatric problems in the perinatal period.
- Excellent negotiation, decision-making, and advocacy skills, including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

This position will see you working as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Sutherland Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Services. You will be based at Caringbah Community Health Centre, located on the campus of The Sutherland Hospital.
This role requires you to be able to work independently and make sound decisions in complex situations. As part of this role, you will also be required to initiate, lead, complete, and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes.
