Clinical Specialist in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health

Northern Sydney Local Health District's Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Service is seeking an experienced mental health professional to fill this role.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in providing intensive short-term mental health care and longer-term care coordination for pregnant women and parents who are primary carers for an infant up to 2 years of age, and who have severe and complex mental health problems.
- Assess, plan, and deliver high-quality clinical services to consumers using knowledge and understanding of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, infant development, and culturally sensitive practice.
- Provide specialist clinical mental health services to pregnant or parent consumers, and their infants in the perinatal period where a parent is presenting with complex mental health problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive assessment plans that address the complex needs of pregnant women and new mothers experiencing severe and complex mental health problems.
- Providing targeted interventions and support strategies to help individuals achieve optimal mental health outcomes.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in a clinical health field, such as Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or Occupational Therapy.
- Previous experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing severe and complex parental psycho-social and psychiatric problems in the perinatal period.
What We Offer:
This is a temporary part-time position until 30 June 2025 (with possibility of ongoing employment).
