Claims Specialist Job Description

The role of Claims Specialist plays a vital part in achieving this goal. Working within our diverse team, you will be responsible for providing early, timely, and personal service to workers, employers, providers/stakeholders, and family/support networks while delivering an empathetic customer experience through deep technical specialisation in complex claims.

This position works in an environment where people are passionate about helping others, with a focus on customer service and support to all stakeholders to provide proactive, tailored, timely, and effective management of specialised claims.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Proactively proceeding with appropriate case management to achieve the optimum outcome of early sustainable return to work for workers with reasonable claim costs
  • Liaising with all internal and external stakeholders regularly to progress strategies and actions
  • Assessing aspects of liability and recovery relevant to the legislation or policy, in accordance with procedures if required
  • Undertaking ongoing reviews in relation to entitlements, payments, and medical expenses
  • Proactively managing rehabilitation providers and approval of rehabilitation plans/wellness plans in accordance with guidelines
  • Conducting health promotion activities to enhance the injured worker's wellbeing and empower them to participate in their own treatment and recovery
  • Ensuring files are accurately and professionally updated on a regular basis

Requirements:

  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology derived from work experience or studies is desirable
