Senior Claims Specialist
  • As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for leading complex liability claims and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external experts.
  • You will drive resolution of high-value claims and contribute to the technical excellence of the Specialty claims team.

This is a pivotal role in ensuring claims are resolved efficiently and fairly while supporting the technical development of the broader team.

About the Role

  • Manage end-to-end claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposures.
  • Provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal legal teams, panel firms, and counsel to manage legal complexities.
  • Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required.
  • Support technical oversight and mentoring within the Specialty claims team.
  • Develop governance frameworks and reporting for emerging risks and financial impacts.
  • Promote alignment of claims strategies across internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance (mandatory).
  • Industry qualifications such as Diploma in Financial Services (mandatory).
  • 5–10 years' experience managing complex liability claims.
  • Litigation experience, including briefing panel firms or direct involvement (mandatory).
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and claims systems.
