About Our Organization

The Benevolent Society is dedicated to fostering a just society where every Australian can thrive. With over two centuries of experience, we have been advocates for those at the edges of society, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, children and families, the elderly, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities. We operate as an independent, non-religious service provider, empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives.

We are committed to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively promote their inclusion across economic, political, and social spheres.

Role Overview

In our Family Preservation Program, we work collaboratively with families expecting a child or those with children under 18 to enhance familial bonds, ensuring children can remain safely at home, free from abuse and neglect, and receive the best possible start in life. Our services are voluntary and cater to families at high risk of entering or escalating within the statutory child protection system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support to families through regular in-home services.
  • Conduct initial assessments to identify family strengths and needs, and develop tailored case plans that enhance resilience and foster positive relationships.
  • Implement evidence-based practices while collaborating with other services to assist families in navigating their next steps.
  • Customize support for families using a strengths-based approach to ensure services align with their unique needs.

Employee Benefits

We are committed to supporting our employees in achieving their best lives, which is unique to each individual and may evolve over time. Here are some benefits you may find appealing:

  • Salary Packaging - Access to package up to $15,900 of your pre-tax salary for everyday expenses, maximizing your take-home pay.
  • Vehicle Packaging Options – Tailored to fit your lifestyle.
  • Work-Life Balance - Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid home/office options, and one accrued day off per month for full-time employees.
  • Recognition and Rewards – Competitive remuneration, various recognition initiatives, and eligibility for long service leave after five years.
  • Wellness Programs - Fitness passport, Employee Assistance Program, and opportunities to purchase additional leave.
  • Professional Development – Customized career development opportunities for all employees and volunteers to foster growth and fulfillment.
  • Commitment to Reconciliation – First Nations employees are entitled to up to 10 days of unpaid leave for ceremonial purposes and can participate in our RAP working group, along with opportunities for cultural and professional development.

As a candidate for this role, you should possess:

  • A relevant degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience in case management within the Child Protection sector.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A holistic, strengths-based approach to effecting meaningful change.
  • The ability to engage with diverse populations, including the local Aboriginal community.
  • A high level of motivation, professional integrity, and a belief in the potential of every parent.

If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, we encourage you to apply. The Benevolent Society values the cultural knowledge and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and is committed to being an Employer of Choice, ensuring cultural safety in our workplace.
