Job Title: Senior Research Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Officer to join our multidisciplinary team at the Queensland Police Service's (QPS) Operational Research Unit.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with our team to provide evidence-based advice to senior management on QPS intelligence and operational priorities. This will involve developing effective evidence-based policing options and strategies, as well as conducting research and analysis to inform policing practices and improve community safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, well-researched advice to senior management on QPS intelligence and operational priorities.
  • Develop effective evidence-based policing options and strategies.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policing practices and improve community safety.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support operational policing and key QPS projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review policies and practices across Government and within the QPS.
  • Produce timely and accurate information to be used for the purpose of evaluating programs, providing a basis for planning and policy development.
  • Consult and liaise effectively with other areas of the QPS and relevant Government departments and non-government organisations.
Requirements
  • Possession of a degree in Law, Criminology, or Criminal Justice from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualisation (such as R, Jasp, Excel, Power BI, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
