About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Officer to join our Operational Research Unit at the Queensland Police Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing evidence-based advice to support operational policing and key QPS projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-quality research and analysis to inform policing practices and improve community safety.
  • Develop effective evidence-based policing options and strategies to address complex operational issues.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support operational policing and key QPS projects and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of Whole of Government strategies and QPS strategic and operational plans.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review policies and practices across Government and within the QPS, and liaise and negotiate with those agencies to achieve an appropriate holistic response.
  • Produce timely and accurate information to be used for the purpose of evaluating programs, providing a basis for planning and policy development.
  • Consult and liaise effectively with other areas of the QPS and relevant Government departments and non-government organisations, as appropriate, and represent the QPS on inter-agency forums.
  • Assist in the identification, development, and analysis of complex operational options and provide high-level advice on complex issues and findings.
  • Prepare papers, submissions, briefs, and correspondence for senior management, the Minister, cabinet, and other diverse audiences.
  • Prepare and present written reports, briefings, evaluations, and executive correspondence to senior management and key stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Possession of a degree in Law, Criminology, or Criminal Justice from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications is mandatory.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualisation is desirable.
