About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Officer to join our multidisciplinary team at the Queensland Police Service's Operational Research Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based advice to senior management on QPS intelligence and operational priorities.
  • Conduct project and research tasks to investigate, analyze, and critically evaluate intelligence-led issues.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of Whole of Government strategies and QPS strategic and operational plans.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review policies and practices across Government and within the QPS, and liaise with agencies to achieve a holistic response.
  • Produce timely and accurate information for program evaluation, planning, and policy development.
  • Consult and liaise effectively with other areas of the QPS and relevant Government departments and non-government organizations.
  • Assist in identifying, developing, and analyzing complex operational options and provide high-level advice on complex issues and findings.
  • Prepare papers, submissions, briefs, and correspondence for senior management, the Minister, and other diverse audiences.
  • Prepare and present written reports, briefings, evaluations, and executive correspondence to senior management and key stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Possession of a degree in Law, Criminology, or Criminal Justice from a recognized tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization (e.g., R, Jasp, Excel, Power BI) is desirable.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and graphic material.
  • Willingness to travel interstate and intrastate.
