Senior Payment Solutions Manager

Job Description

Global Transaction Services (GTS) is a critical component of Westpac's institutional bank that manages cash management and working capital needs for institutional customers, as well as overseeing payments infrastructure across the wider bank.

GTS is embarking on two key initiatives within Westpac's $2 billion technology simplification program, Project Unite. The first initiative focuses on payment ecosystem simplification, reducing costs associated with future changes while enhancing speed in implementing updates. The second initiative involves payments consolidation, migrating payments flows into GTS's strategic real-time payments processors, setting the stage for future BECS rationalisation.

As the Payments Product Owner, you will be responsible for developing requirements and prioritizing the roadmap for delivering the tech simplification agenda. This role serves as the key link between the project team and Agile delivery teams, ensuring proper Product and Services Lifecycle governance and risk management.

Responsibilities include:

• Leading the vision for payment simplification and consolidation, including implementing a product management strategy aligned with Project Unite objectives and principles.">
• Influencing target state design by collaborating with architects, solution designers, developers, and third-party vendors to assess solutions and provide recommendations meeting business requirements.">
• Leading the requirements squad team to document the Agile backlog and work with technology to refine solution design and low-level user stories.">
• Managing the product backlog, including supporting backlog prioritization, program increment planning, sprint planning, delivery, testing, and retrospectives.">
• Collaborating with delivery teams to lead the build and implementation of target solutions against a challenging release schedule.">
• Supporting test requirement definition and delivery, including non-functional requirements.">
• Ensuring the target design meets compliance and risk requirements, rigorously identifying and managing operational risks, incidents, issues, and controls.">
• Serving as an expert in the payments domain regarding competitors, emerging products and services, customer needs-led product management, industry knowledge, local and global market trends, and general market conditions.">

Key Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Significant experience as a product owner with expertise in Payment Rails, including NPP or equivalent real-time rails.">
• Experience and knowledge of Payment Channels, including payment initiation and pre-processing.">
• A proven track record of playing a significant part in payments migrations, including payment processor consolidation.">
• Excellent understanding of transformation programs and ability to lead Agile teams.">
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills.">
• Experience and interest in the payments domain.">
• Strong attention to detail and project knowledge.">
