About the Role

The Music and Arts/Cultural Curriculum Leader will be responsible for leading the arts and cultural program in the College, supervising teachers and teacher aides, and contributing to the leadership of the College through active participation in staff and middle leadership meetings. The position will also involve coordinating the work of staff engaged in the development of students, monitoring program outcomes, and addressing areas of concern through appropriate interventions.

Key Responsibilities

The Music and Arts/Cultural Curriculum Leader will achieve this by:
  • Coordinating the work of staff engaged in the development of students
  • Monitoring the development of students through their academic, social, spiritual and physical well-being and addressing areas of concern
  • Monitoring program outcomes for students and addressing areas of concern through appropriate interventions
  • Organising program activities for the College including resources, transport and operations etc.
  • Engaging in professional discourse with staff engaged in the program on an individual and group basis through regular feedback
  • Keeping abreast of developments within the program area through on-going professional reading and research, and providing for the professional learning of staff with these developments
  • Supervising the quality of staff practice through collegial support, advice, observation and facilitation of reflective response
  • Administration of available resources

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a relevant teaching qualification, a commitment to the Catholic ethos and mission of the school, and the ability to work as a member of a committed team of professional teachers. They will also have an understanding of contemporary pedagogy, the ability to differentiate and provide for a diverse range of abilities, and a willingness to change and develop instructional strategies to increase student growth and achievement. Additionally, they will have the ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville and the ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
