External Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a skilled External Engagement Specialist to play a key role in shaping our external environment and supporting commercial objectives.

This specialist will build, maintain, and strategically leverage relationships with government, industry stakeholders, influencers, and decision-makers across Australia.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of public policy and be able to develop and execute advocacy strategies that enhance our corporate reputation and enable meaningful stakeholder collaboration.

Positioning our organisation as a trusted voice in the health sector and a proactive contributor to policy development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop policy positions and comprehensive stakeholder engagement programs to support commercial objectives, reputation, and key business projects.
  • Coordinate and undertake research and data analysis to underpin advocacy efforts.
  • Develop and implement forward-looking plans, and prepare reports, briefs, and other documents to support public affairs work.
  • Support the Director Public Affairs in developing and delivering effective public affairs strategies for the organisation.
  • Deliver high-quality public policy submissions on behalf of the organisation.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to build the organisation's reputation as a leader in healthcare.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need a degree-level qualification in political science, public policy, communications, legal, or business, along with proven experience in public affairs, government, and stakeholder relations.

Strong communication, research, writing, and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships across diverse stakeholders.

A growth mindset, agility, and professionalism are also required to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities.
