Job Opportunity: Vic Rail Planner and Operations Coordinator


V/Line is a leading provider of transport services in Victoria, aiming to connect Victorians through safe, reliable, and accessible transport. As a Vic Rail Planner and Operations Coordinator, you will play a critical role in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our passenger services, ensuring they meet passenger, operational, regulatory, and performance requirements.


The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development and management of V/Line's rail and coach passenger timetables. This involves coordinating fleet plans, supporting master freight scheduling, and ensuring the timetables meet operational and regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for administering and evaluating timetables and fleet plans, providing input and support for the development and implementation of changes to the timetable and/or fleet plan.


We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with experience in rail and coach planning, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in relevant software. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving abilities to effectively manage and develop operational timetables.

The estimated salary for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience. Key Requirements



  • Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.
  • Experience in a rail planning environment, ideally in coach and bus planning.
  • A familiarity with rail fleet planning software and rail modelling and simulation software is advantageous.
  • Analytical Skills - Capability in advanced data analytics using programming languages.
  • Attention to Detail - Demonstrated high levels of accuracy and precision.
  • Interpersonal Skills - Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
