We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join our Sydney CBD team and contribute to the success of a respected, community-focused not-for-profit. As an integral member of the People and Culture team, you will play a key role in providing expert HR support to Congregations and Presbyteries across NSW and ACT.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have significant experience in a generalist HR and/or ER advisory role, with a comprehensive understanding of Modern Awards. They will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with key stakeholders, clients, volunteers, staff, and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation and review of job positions, offering advice on employment conditions and crafting detailed job descriptions.
  • Provide guidance on efficient and professional onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a positive employee experience.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance HR processes, including documenting and communicating new policies and procedures, and streamlining workflows where applicable.
  • Advise on the application of Modern Awards across varied workplace environments, ensuring clarity and compliance to prevent industrial disputes.
  • Offer advice on a broad range of HR areas, including remuneration and benefits, communications, change management, employee relations, learning and development, and recruitment.
  • Provide recommendations on organisational policies and procedures, advising on best practices where formal policies may be lacking.
  • Manage or support HR projects, ensuring they meet budgetary and timeline requirements while delivering successful outcomes.
  • Draft and issue employment contracts, offer letters, and other essential documentation for employees and hiring managers.
  • Partner with the Work Health and Safety Manager to provide guidance on WHS cases, ensuring compliance and support for all parties involved.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to address and resolve employee relations issues, including performance concerns, complaints, and grievances, escalating matters as needed.
