Financial Assistance Scheme Case Manager

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a skilled professional to manage the Financial Assistance Scheme for victims of violent crime.

This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.

The scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to victims of violent crime, with the goal of supporting their recovery and well-being.

  • Review and process applications for financial assistance.
  • Assess eligibility and make decisions in accordance with legislation, policy and guidelines.

A relevant qualification and experience in community services, social work, criminology, psychology, victim services and/or family violence is highly desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as you will be working with victims of crime, community organisations and other stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of the scheme.

Knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, both society and culture, and the issues impacting it would be an advantage.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer the Financial Assistance Scheme.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the effective delivery of the scheme.
  • Collaborate with community organisations and other stakeholders to promote the scheme and provide support to victims of crime.
