Job Summary:

Industrial Light & Magic is seeking a highly skilled Senior Generalist to join our team of visual effects professionals. As a Senior Generalist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality digital environments and landscapes that integrate seamlessly with plate elements.

You will have a vast knowledge of multiple workflows and be able to turn around beautiful work quickly to help the VFX Supervisor and client shape the vision of the project. You will be equally comfortable blocking in shots to establish a look as you focusing on the small details required to take a shot to final pixels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a range of high-quality digital environments within a tight timeline and with minimal supervision.
  • Establish shaders and lighting setups that look convincing and render efficiently.
  • Source suitable reference materials for required assets.
  • Participate in rounds and attend dailies for your show and engage in creative conversations with show leads and artists from other departments.
  • Interpret and respond to client and supervisor feedback with minimal direction from your Lead.
  • Mentor more junior Artists and assist them with their shots.
  • Participate and engage with the Generalist team as a whole and contribute to our inclusive, supportive, and collaborative culture.
  • Help to develop and test tools and techniques before they are rolled out to shot artists.
  • Be prepared to lead a sequence of shots and create the look that the rest of the team follows.

Requirements:

  • Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven ability in multiple CG techniques, including modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, look development, matte painting, or compositing.
  • Excellent communication and team-oriented thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new software.
  • Fluent in some or all of these software packages: Nuke, 3dsMax, Maya, Houdini, Solaris, and Renderman, and/or Vray renderer. Comparable software experience considered.
  • Good working knowledge of specialist tools and plugins like Photoshop, Speedtree, zBrush, Substance Painter, Gaea, etc.
