Defence Family Liaison Officer RoleAbout the Role

The Defence Family Liaison Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting Defence families, connecting them with the community and other Defence families. This is a dynamic position that requires strong engagement skills, creativity, and a passion for delivering exceptional support.

Main Responsibilities
  • Engage with Defence families, key stakeholders, and the wider community to build relationships and promote networking opportunities.
  • Organise and facilitate events, activities, and social functions to foster connections among Defence families and the broader community.
  • Provide tailored support to Defence families to help them manage the challenges of Defence life.
  • Develop innovative approaches to promote DMFS programs and events, and provide information and advice on community services and resources.
  • PARTicipate in Command and Unit facilitated events and functions to engage with Defence members and families.
  • Establish relationships with service providers and educate them about the needs of Defence families.
Our Team

The Defence Member and Family Support Branch (DMFS) Directorate of Regional Engagement offers a wide range of programs and services to support Defence families' self-reliance and enhance community capacity to meet their needs.

This team works collaboratively with Defence Social Workers and Military Support Officers, supported by Education Support Officers, Business Support Officers, and Area Managers.
