Located in a vibrant dining destination, this Asian restaurant has been a favourite for its unique approach to hospitality and modern dining experience. The menu offers delicious share-style food and unique cocktails.

Over the years, the restaurant has expanded to new locations, including Noosa, Burleigh Heads and Newcastle. Recently, it relocated to a brand new space, offering an evolved version of its popular dishes.

The restaurant is now looking for a skilled Sous Chef to join its team. As a key member of the kitchen team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, and contributing to the overall success of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Collaborate with the Head Chef to maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and presentation in the kitchen.
  • Staff Training and Development: Train junior staff chefs, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and skill enhancement.
  • Communication: Foster positive communication between FOH and BOH teams during service.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all kitchen staff adhere to Light Years' Standard and Food Safety program.
  • Auditing and Quality Control: Work towards high scores in inspections and audits, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
  • Suppliers and Inventory Management: Monitor food COGS, communicate with suppliers, and adjust GP as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Sound communication skills.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a fast-paced, high-volume venue (essential).
  • A positive attitude towards colleagues and front-of-house staff.
  • Experience with Asian ingredients preferred but not essential.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Cooking and preparing dishes according to company specifications.
  • Maintaining high standards of food and hygiene.
  • Familiarity with recipes and specifications.
