Job Description:

We are seeking an accomplished and experienced Wok Chef to join our busy catering unit at Perth Airport. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in large-scale, high-end venues and experience producing consistent, high-quality culinary items.

Responsibilities will include planning and directing food preparation in our kitchens for our client's Asian-focused Airline customer meals. This will involve working collaboratively with a team of kitchen staff, as well as managing your own cooking section.

Key responsibilities also include assisting our Sous Chefs in charge of daily production to plan, develop, and cost menus, and from time to time advising our clients on requirements, specialty ingredients, and specific menu orders relating to Asian menus and wok-based dishes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Expertise in traditional Japanese, Malay, Chinese, Thai, or Singaporean cuisine highly regarded.
  • Recognized qualifications in Commercial Cookery (min Cert III) and experience in authentic food techniques.
  • Knowledge of wok handling, heat transfer, and wok maintenance.
  • Ability to work a 7-day rotating shift roster.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good organizational, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience in commercial catering or large-scale hotels highly regarded.
