Job Summary

The Senior Claims Consultant will play a key role in managing both property and liability claims, providing high-level claims management services to clients and brokers through consulting, advisory, advocacy, and negotiation. This role requires a strong understanding of claims management and the ability to drive favorable financial outcomes, reduce claim amounts, and mitigate risk.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Claims Management
  • Responsible for managing national Property Damage, Liability, and ISR claims, liaising with clients, insurers, claimants, and external providers.
  • Interpret policy wordings, analyze claims history data, arrange/conduct investigations, and determine claim settlements for under-deductible claims.
Settlement Negotiation
  • Drive the settlement negotiation process and negotiate on behalf of the client, acting as an advocate for the client and determining commercial/technical responses to insurer's denials of liability.
Client and Broker Service
  • Respond to queries, prepare routine and ad hoc reports, including claims trends analysis and quarterly and/or annual claims reviews.
  • Attend client meetings and conduct training for clients as required.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years' experience managing Liability claims in a Claims Consultant role, ideally in a commercial team focusing on large business and brokered clients nationally.
  • Educated to degree level or Diploma in Financial Services or a Law qualification.
  • Strong understanding of national Claims Management and working within Client Service Agreements or Claims Unit standards.
  • Time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, analytical problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Resilience and perseverance.
  • Customer service and relationship-building skills with an ability to work collaboratively to the mutual benefit of clients, brokers, and the business.
  • Alert to new and expanded business opportunities, supporting these through provision of claims review data for tenders, renewals, and proposals.
  • The ability to work effectively and take on leadership.
