About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Consultant - Liability to join our team at Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. As a key member of our claims management team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of non-litigated and litigated claims.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Manage a portfolio of liability claims, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to brokers and distribution partners, building strong relationships and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Assist the Head of Claims and National Claims Operations Manager in monitoring and reviewing claims processes, ensuring best practice and compliance with industry standards.
  • Contribute to the development of business strategies, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Be the primary point of contact for all claims-related matters, providing expert guidance and advice, and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Attend court-appointed mediations, informal settlement conferences, and other Alternative Dispute Resolution forums, representing the company with professionalism and expertise.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, brokers, and distribution customers, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Liaise with brokers and insured parties regarding policy queries, providing clear and concise information.
  • Attend external events to gather market intelligence, identifying potential opportunities and threats to our claims management framework, and presenting findings to the Claims Team Leader - Liability.
  • Assist the Claims Team Leader - Liability on special projects, providing input on key deliverables, resource requirements, and timelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with company products, systems, and procedures, as well as relevant legislation, ensuring compliance and best practice.
  • Participate in workshops, events, and activities, and engage with professional publications and materials, sharing knowledge with team members.
  • Contribute to the review and development of systems, policies, practices, and procedures, ensuring they are effective and efficient.
Requirements

  • A strong understanding of the Australian general insurance industry, Ecclesiastical Insurance Group's core markets, and how strategies work in the marketplace.
  • Experience in dealing directly with brokers and clients, while fostering effective working relationships.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement practical strategies to secure new business and retention of renewals.
  • Proven ability to assist in the development and implementation of effective risk management strategies within the general insurance industry.
  • Strong personal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve company objectives.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven track record of meeting KPIs/business goals and targets.
  • Strong commercial negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when collating and inputting data.
  • Precise and accurate analysis of the authenticity of claims, ensuring compliance with financial services legislation and industry code of practice.
  • Sound understanding of the Trade Practices, General Insurance Code of Practice, Insurance Contracts Act, Privacy Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Completed or undertaking insurance qualifications to ANZIIF Associate level, or relevant tertiary qualifications related to insurance.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant law discipline would be highly desirable.
