About the Role

The Tasmanian Government is seeking a highly skilled Senior Spatial Information Officer to join our team at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania.

As a Senior Spatial Information Officer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality outputs and providing authoritative advice, services, and solutions related to standard series and specialist map production, design, GIS, and application development activities.

You will work closely with data managers, maintenance, and client services areas to develop projects from inception to completion and implementation.

The ideal candidate will have an Advanced/Associate Diploma in Applied Science or equivalent level in a Spatial Sciences related discipline, or extensive demonstrated experience working directly in the field of Mapping and GIS.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing high-quality outputs and providing authoritative advice, services, and solutions related to standard series and specialist map production, design, GIS, and application development activities.
  • Working closely with data managers, maintenance, and client services areas to develop projects from inception to completion and implementation.
  • Developing and maintaining a diverse range of software from GIS to graphic arts to produce digital and hardcopy maps.
  • Harnessing curiosity and drive innovation to develop projects from inception to completion and implementation.
