Mechanical Engineer for Rail Infrastructure

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Parklife Metro, working on a landmark metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major economic stimulus for Western Sydney, and to contribute to the successful delivery of the design and construction elements of the project.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning of all mechanical systems on the SSTOM project, ensuring that they meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.
This role involves developing and executing commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures for all mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other railway-specific mechanical installations.
Key Responsibilities- Commissioning Planning and Coordination:
- Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures for all mechanical systems.
- Coordinate with design, construction, and project management teams to ensure commissioning activities align with the overall project timeline and goals.
- Conduct and document tests on mechanical systems to verify functionality, performance, and compliance with design specifications.
- Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot issues during system testing, collaborating with engineering teams to implement solutions.
- Prepare and maintain detailed commissioning records, reports, and punch lists to track progress and identify any outstanding issues.
- Review and approve commissioning test results, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all documentation for handover to operations.
- Ensure commissioning activities comply with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures, including adherence to railway safety protocols, to minimize risk during testing and commissioning.
- Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to coordinate mechanical system commissioning and resolve any technical challenges.
- Provide regular updates to project management and other key stakeholders, addressing any issues that may impact the commissioning schedule.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in mechanical system commissioning, with at least 3 years in large-scale buildings, infrastructure, or railway projects.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical systems relevant to railway infrastructure, proficiency in using commissioning and project management software, and knowledge of railway safety standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with project stakeholders, and ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
