Aboriginal Child Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker to join our team at the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the safety and well-being of Aboriginal children and families.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with parents, family members, children, and young people to develop and implement safety plans and risk assessments.
- Provide culturally sensitive and respectful support to Aboriginal families, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the Aboriginal community, including community organizations and service providers.
- Participate in court processes, including the preparation of court documents and attending court hearings.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote the safety and well-being of Aboriginal children and families.
- A relevant diploma or degree qualification in a field such as social work, child protection, or a related field.
- At least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and their families, preferably in an Aboriginal context.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with the Aboriginal community.
- A valid driver's license and a paid working with children clearance number.
