Aboriginal Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate mental health professional from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background to provide culturally sensitive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team to deliver short-term counselling services, improve workplace well-being, and contribute to ensuring culturally sensitive services are provided.

The role involves providing short-term counselling services to clients, offering guidance to organisations to improve their mental health and well-being, facilitating group sessions and training on mental health and cultural competency, and assisting in the design and delivery of educational training packages.

About You
  • You must have proven experience in providing mental health and wellbeing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
  • Strong understanding of the cultural, historical, familial, and societal factors influencing mental health in First Nations communities is essential.
  • Qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work are required, as well as professional registration with a relevant health professional body.
  • Minimum three years of counselling experience is preferred.
