
Culturally Sensitive Healthcare Specialist

The Aboriginal Health Care Coordinator plays a crucial part in reducing hospital admission and readmission rates for First Nations clients with complex psychosocial and health issues.
- Continuing to facilitate the successful integration of an Aboriginal health role within the Health Independence Program (HIP) and Healthcare for the Homeless services.
- Focusing on improving linkages across the acute and primary health sector to enhance access to services for First Nations clients with complex needs.
The coordinator will lead the development of cultural support, training, and resources in collaboration with Wilam Ngarrang to provide culturally sensitive healthcare. They will work closely with the Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer team to deliver social and emotional wellbeing support to First Nations patients.
To be successful, you will have qualifications relevant to HIP, a minimum of 4 years' experience in a relevant setting, and eligibility for registration/membership with AHPRA or a discipline-specific association. You must also be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, possess demonstrated knowledge of First Nations culture and values, and experience working constructively with First Nations communities and personnel.
