We are seeking a skilled Field Service Specialist to join our team.

The successful applicant will possess sound knowledge of common environmental degradation on outdoor electronic systems, and an ability to fault find systemically using standard test equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance, installation, and repair of electronic and mechanical equipment in various outdoor environments;
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting using standard test equipment;
  • Traveling to remote parts of Victoria to maintain the Victorian BoM Observation networks.

The Melbourne Hub is a maintenance centre for the Bureau of Meteorology's Victorian operations. Staff based at the Melbourne Hub travel far and wide across Victoria to maintain all the Victorian BoM Observation networks, including Doppler Rain Radars, Automatic Weather Stations, Upper-Air monitoring systems, Flood warning / rainfall monitoring systems, Communications, telemetry and instrumentation systems, and conversing with co-operative observers.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong understanding of electronic and mechanical systems;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • An ability to work independently in remote locations;
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
