Senior Energy Licensing Executive Leader

The Department for Energy and Mining seeks a seasoned professional to fill the position of Senior Energy Licensing Executive Leader, Regulatory Risk and Resource Tenure Branch.

About the Role

This executive leadership role is responsible for leading the development and implementation of legislation, policies, and programs governing licensing and land access.

The successful candidate will provide authoritative advice to government, support critical legislative reform, and engage with industry and community stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead high-performing teams in the development and implementation of key regulatory frameworks.
  • Provide expert guidance on upstream energy resource legislation, particularly the Energy Resources Act 2000, Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023, and associated Acts.
  • Maintain strategic relationships across government and industry to drive policy outcomes and stakeholder engagement.
About You
  • Proven track record of leadership experience in regulatory, compliance or legal services, preferably within government or the energy/resources sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in regulatory risk management, stakeholder engagement, and legislative reform.
  • Able to manage complex environments, lead change initiatives, and provide authoritative advice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including working with Traditional Owner groups, industry representatives, and the broader community.
