Job Title: General Manager, Energy Resources Licensing

The Department for Energy and Mining is seeking an exceptional leader to join its Regulatory Risk and Resource Tenure Branch as General Manager, Energy Resources Licensing. This is a rare opportunity to influence the strategic direction of upstream energy regulation and land access frameworks critical to the state's energy transition and economic development.

About the Opportunity

The General Manager, Energy Resource Licensing is responsible for leading the development and implementation of legislation, policies, and programs governing licensing and land access under the Energy Resources Act 2000 and the Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023.

Requirements
  • Strong leadership experience in regulation, compliance, or legal roles - ideally in government or the energy/resources sector.
  • Good understanding of energy laws, including the Energy Resources Act 2000, Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act 2023, Native Title Act 1993, and related legislation.
  • Able to think strategically, lead change, and offer practical, clear advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Confident working in complex and high-pressure environments.
  • Skilled in working with a wide range of people - including Traditional Owner groups, industry, and the public.

Qualifications and Remuneration

Desirable qualifications include those in management or legal related disciplines. Remuneration includes a salary of MAS3 $127,859 per annum plus superannuation. This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week.
