Job Role

We are seeking a seasoned Ocean Freight Import Expert to lead our team in Sydney.

About the Position

This role requires a highly skilled professional with expertise in coordinating ocean freight imports, managing transportation operations, and providing guidance to less experienced colleagues.

Main Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and complete shipment activities, including customer bookings, documentation, and local/international transport.
  • Lead planning and execution of BMSB seasonal protocols, liaising with origin offices, customs brokers, and shipping lines to ensure compliance and timely cargo movement.
  • Maintain accurate and timely import cargo reporting, ensuring visibility across shipments and supporting internal/external stakeholders with relevant updates.
  • Ensure high-quality KPIs are met or exceeded consistently.
  • Manage EDO handovers and oversee billing activities, ensuring documentation accuracy and alignment with operational timelines.
  • Implement regulatory compliance procedures for commodity and location-related shipments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with CFS and shipping lines to streamline import operations, resolve issues, and optimise service delivery.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Proactively oversee customer shipments to ensure satisfaction at every touchpoint, fostering loyalty and driving repeat business.
  • Minimise costs on every job file and maximise gross profit on every job file.
  • Resolve operational workflow issues and/or customer feedback, escalating to supervisor when necessary.
  • Ensure all required documentation is in place as per shipment requirements/SOP.
