We are currently recruiting an Ocean Freight Transport Supervisor to join our Ocean Freight Team This role will be based at our Sydney Station, reporting to the Ocean Freight Import Forwarding Manager.

Overall Role Purpose

As an Ocean Freight Transport Supervisor in our OFRI team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our import and transport strategies, ensuring seamless operations that meet our business objectives and exceed customer expectations. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and strong leadership skills to drive efficiency and foster collaboration across various teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the implementation of transport strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations and efficient handling of shipments.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of a small portfolio of key customers, ensuring seamless service delivery and fostering strong relationships to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborating on the design and implementation of robust transport plans and processes to enable seamless pickup and delivery of customer materials and shipments
  • Driving process efficiencies and cross-functional alignment across customer operations, billing, and program management, promoting the "one file, one operator" model
  • Responding promptly and professionally to stakeholder inquiries, maintaining a high standard of service excellence
  • Serving as an escalation point for OFRI Transport Specialists, internal teams, overseas offices, and external partners
  • Monitoring key station performance metrics (KPIs) to ensure operational goals are met
  • Overseeing IMPO staff task completion to ensure role clarity and execution
  • Reviewing and tracking auto-costing, rating, profit & loss files, and rate accuracy for continuous financial integrity.

Build strong, trusting relationships with customers by demonstrating deep knowledge of their business and industry trendsAssess and understand customer needs to recommend tailored logistics solutionsLeverage market expertise to connect customer challenges with DHL solutions, delivering tangible business valueLead and close opportunities by positioning DHL as a trusted logistics partner

Skills / Qualifications required

Minimum 3 years' previous experience in Shipping / International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and / or ocean-freight transport rolesMinimum 3-5 years' experience in related field including at least 1-year supervisory experienceOFRI knowledge and experienceCargoWise system experience requiredSound knowledge of Freight Forwarding and Logistics in generalHigh degree of reliabilityBe a team player with a positive can-do attitudeBe results driven and be able to demonstrate strong communication and administration skillsPossess a high degree of attention to detail and a professional work ethic.
