We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Associate Nurse Unit Manager to join our dynamic team.
Job OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate professional to work with young people in a first-of-its-kind voluntary eight bed forensic mental health unit.
About the Role- You will be the primary point of contact for clinical issues and a resource for staff on each shift.
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care to young people in custody across a 24/7 rotating roster.
- Provide specialist mental health nursing interventions, and effectively manage critical incidents and emergency situations.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based interventions.
- Deliver mental health nursing care from a Strengths-Based, Recovery-Focused framework.
- Engage in 1:1 therapeutic work, clinical practice, advocacy, group facilitation, and mentorship/preceptorship.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
- Post-graduate qualification in Mental Health.
- Comprehensive experience in in the application of clinical and nursing practice in youth mental health including risk assessment, mental state assessment, psychoeducation, care coordination, ideally in an acute or subacute inpatient setting.
- Ability to deliver personalised psycho-social care beyond the traditional medical model to facilitate recovery of young people.
- Demonstrated commitment to the recovery approach in mental health treatment and support, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and families/carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching consumers personal recovery goals.
