Expert Mental Health Professionals are sought after to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment at our youth justice precinct. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide specialist mental health nursing care, working closely with nurse unit managers to ensure efficient operations and high-quality service delivery.

About the Role

The job requires delivering evidence-based interventions, providing 1:1 therapeutic work, clinical practice, advocacy, group facilitation, and mentorship/preceptorship to young people in custody. Collaborative working is key, as you will be responsible for primary point of contact for clinical issues and a resource for staff on each shift.

  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care across a 24/7 rotating roster
  • Provide specialist mental health nursing interventions and manage critical incidents and emergency situations effectively
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based interventions
  • Deliver mental health nursing care from a strengths-based framework
  • Engage in therapeutic work, clinical practice, advocacy, group facilitation, and mentorship/preceptorship
About You

Successful candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, along with post-graduate qualifications in mental health and comprehensive experience in inpatient settings. Ability to deliver personalized psycho-social care beyond the traditional medical model to facilitate recovery of young people is essential.
