Job Description

KPMG's Finance Hub is a cloud-based solution that provides a range of services to support, supplement, and enhance clients' finance functions and financial operations. As a Finance Officer within the team, you will be responsible for delivering KPMG's outsourced bookkeeping, management accounting, and finance functions to private, mid-market, and family-owned businesses across various industries.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and organized individual to join our Finance Hub team in Wollongong. As a Finance Officer, you will have accountability for and undertake the following tasks in a management accounting capacity:

  • Deliver KPMG's outsourced bookkeeping, management accounting, and finance functions
  • Process end-to-end AP, including processing invoices, uploading vendor payments to banking files, remittance advices, and responding to vendor queries
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
  • Process payroll, including expense reimbursement management
  • Prepare and review complex payroll, including overtime, terminations, and redundancies
  • Prepare and lodge periodic superannuation and payroll tax reporting and payments
  • Prepare and review superannuation guarantee charge statements
  • Perform periodic bank reconciliations
  • Conduct credit card reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing financial information and reports for accountants on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Assist clients in transitioning to automated cloud software systems
  • Prepare monthly financial reports covering balance sheet, profit and loss, and cashflow statements
  • Support the client's finance function team
  • Manage the general ledger, including overseeing monthly balance sheet, banking, and inter-company reconciliations
  • Complete monthly accruals, journals, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of GST and payroll tax

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong reconciliation skills
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete work within established deadlines and maintain a consistent level of professionalism
  • Can-do attitude and ability to multi-task and thrive in a changing environment requiring flexibility and adjustment
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team environment as well as work independently without supervision
  • Ability to review and delegate work effectively
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated, autonomous, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Experience in the provision of management accounting services and general awareness of financial accounting requirements such as income tax and compliance obligations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • MS Outlook and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with technologies such as Xero, MYOB, Fathom, Castaway, Spotlight, Approvalmax, Ezzybills, HubDoc would be preferable but not essential

Qualifications

It would be great if you have obtained certificate qualifications from a recognized TAFE or business college. However, we also recognize experience. If you have had 4+ years' experience working as a bookkeeper, we would love to hear from you. Additionally, if you are about to commence or are mid-way through either the CPA or CA program, we can also support you in achieving the qualifications.
