About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Drug and Alcohol Clinician to join our team at St Vincent's Health Australia. The successful applicant will provide evidence-based specialist healthcare, support, and care coordination to people living with complex unmet health and support needs who are experiencing primary homelessness in inner city Sydney.

The Drug and Alcohol Clinician will provide specialist assessment, treatment, referral, and care coordination on an outreach basis, in collaboration with clients, the multidisciplinary team, and a range of stakeholders. They will aim to address clients' cultural, holistic health, and support needs utilizing the principles of trauma-informed care and strengths-based, harm reduction best practice approach.

The successful applicant will assist clients to access mainstream and specialist healthcare and support services of their choice, to improve their health and wellbeing outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessment, treatment, referral, and care coordination services to people experiencing substance use and addiction, in addition to comorbid health and support needs.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with clients, multidisciplinary team, and a range of key stakeholders.
  • Assist clients to access mainstream and specialist healthcare and support services of their choice.
  • Utilize the principles of trauma-informed care and strengths-based, harm reduction best practice approach.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in a related health discipline with at least 3 years post-qualification experience and registration with a relevant professional body if appropriate.
  • Demonstrated competence, knowledge, and experience in providing community-based specialist assessment, treatment, and care coordination services to people experiencing substance use and addiction.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to issues relating to homelessness, the principles of harm minimization, and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with clients, multidisciplinary team, and a range of key stakeholders.
