Grand Pacific Health is seeking an Aboriginal Health Worker to join our Queanbeyan Alcohol and Other Drugs Hub. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with community organizations and healthcare providers to improve health outcomes and reduce harm associated with drug and alcohol use for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver practical support through community engagement, health promotion, and identifying and addressing barriers to access.
* Facilitate warm referrals and work collaboratively with the Queanbeyan AOD team and external service providers to maximize care outcomes for consumers.
Requirements
* Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be an active member within the Aboriginal communities of the Queanbeyan and surrounding areas.
* A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, and/or extensive experience in Aboriginal health, AOD, mental health, community services, or social sciences.
* Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people and their health, including AOD, and the ability to effectively engage and communicate to address their health needs.
* Knowledge and understanding of the principles of harm minimization and recovery-focused support gained through experience, education, and/or training.
