Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Claims Resolution Specialist to join our HSECi team. As a Claims Resolution Specialist, you will be responsible for proactively managing and assessing a portfolio of disability claims and income protection claims against relevant policy/plan design and definitions.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 months of relevant experience in claims assessment within the life insurance industry. You will efficiently manage a portfolio of claims holistically to achieve sustainable, timely outcomes and meet service level agreements and financial services law claims handling provisions.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to use the telephone professionally to speak to customers on a regular basis, using motivational questioning and empathy to build rapport. Your ability to review and complete complex financial calculations will also be essential.

In addition to technical skills, you will be a committed team player who openly communicates and shares knowledge. You will have a high level of attention to detail and excellent time management and prioritization skills. You will also be able to work under pressure in an evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage a portfolio of high complexity disability claims in line with our claims philosophy.
  • Provide proactive customer support by keeping people making a claim updated on the progress of the claim assessment and manage all stakeholders' expectations to support a seamless customer experience.
  • Build rapport with customers over the phone, establishing disability levels and achieving appropriate NPS customer engagement scores.
  • Assess claims against policy contracts and explain complex decisions in writing over the phone with logical and clear rationale.
  • Manage incoming work items in line with service level agreements, department objectives, and practices.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • ANZIIF or equivalent qualifications highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding and working knowledge of applicable regulatory, legislative, and compliance frameworks.
