Job Summary

The Strategic Communications Specialist will work jointly with the Director and will be responsible for leading and implementing the Australian Government's strategic communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Communication Strategy/Plan, identifying objectives, success indicators, audiences, stakeholders, key messages, implementation timeline, measures of impact, and risks.
  • Utilize all relevant communications tools, including media, social media, and public diplomacy levers, to achieve strategic messaging goals.
  • Monitor key opportunities for strategic messaging, including ministerial travel, incoming visits, regional meetings, and global forums.
  • Provide technical communications advice, including branding, to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Design and develop materials for the webpage, ensuring clarity and concision.
  • Engage with internal and whole-of-government stakeholders to ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Consult with Program Managers and Designers to ensure alignment and effectiveness.
  • Draft public information on complex immigration and bilateral issues, tailored for non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • Develop key products, such as media releases, media backgrounders, remarks/speeches, TPs, social media content, and other materials.
