About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and implementing the Australian Government's strategic communications strategy and plan for the Australia-Tuvalu Falepili Union.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Communication Strategy/Plan for the Falepili Union, identifying objectives, success indicators, audiences, stakeholders, key messages, implementation timeline, measures of impact, and risks.
  • Utilize all relevant communications tools, including media, social media, and public diplomacy levers, to support the Falepili Union's strategic communications and public diplomacy efforts.
  • Monitor key opportunities for strategic messaging, including ministerial travel, incoming visits, regional meetings, and global forums.
  • Provide technical communications advice, including branding.
  • Design materials for the Falepili Union webpage.
  • Engage with relevant Department's internal and whole-of-government stakeholders to ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Consult with the relevant Falepili Union Program Managers and Designers.
  • Draft public information on complex immigration and bilateral issues for non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • Draft key products, such as media releases, media backgrounders, remarks/speeches, TPs, social media content, etc.

Deliverables

  • Communication Strategy/Plan
  • Social Media Plan
  • Media, Webpage, Public Diplomacy, and Public Information Products – ongoing
  • Other deliverables as agreed with the Director Pacific Partnerships and Director Tuvalu

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in strategic communications, public diplomacy, and communication strategy development.

They will be able to work effectively in a team environment and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
