About the Role

The Strategic Communications Specialist will work closely with the Director to lead and implement the Australian Government's strategic communications strategy.

This includes:

  • Developing and Implementing a Communication Strategy/Plan, which identifies objectives, success indicators, audiences, stakeholders, key messages, implementation timeline, measures of impact, and risks.
  • Utilizing Various Communications Tools, including media, social media, and public diplomacy levers.
  • Monitoring Key Opportunities for Strategic Messaging, including ministerial travel, incoming visits, regional meetings, and global forums.
  • Providing Technical Communications Advice, including branding.
  • Designing Materials for the Webpage.
  • Engaging with Internal and Whole-of-Government Stakeholders to ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Consulting with Program Managers and Designers.
  • Drafting Public Information on complex immigration and bilateral issues for non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • Creating Key Products, such as media releases, media backgrounders, remarks/speeches, TPs, social media content, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and Implementing a Communication Strategy/Plan.
  • Creating Social Media Content.
  • Designing and Developing Public Diplomacy and Public Information Products.
  • Providing Technical Communications Advice.
  • Engaging with Stakeholders.
