Cyber Underwriter

We are seeking a skilled Cyber Underwriter to join our team. As a Cyber Underwriter, you will be responsible for delivering a profitable underwriting service to our clients. Your key tasks will include underwriting business within agreed business plans and individual authorities, supporting the business planning and forecasting process, and monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reviewing complex submissions, including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports, to determine the degree of risk for each account.
- Calculating appropriate risk premiums by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability.
- Providing proactive advice, assistance, and follow-up to clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their insurance requirements.
- Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.
- Coordinating with internal teams to determine appropriate reinsurance for risk placements on an excess of loss and quota share basis.
- Supporting the business planning and forecasting process, monitoring financial exposure within outlined limits, and monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
- Maintaining awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
- Working collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants, and management teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred and equivalent experience in the relevant class of business.
- Ability to perform tasks according to established procedures with discretion.
- Use of judgment to identify and solve day-to-day problems in straightforward situations.
- Marketing skills to plan for sales and business development, integrating various techniques, tools, and information to support profitable business growth over a defined period.
- Negotiation/Sales skills to plan, structure, and conduct negotiations with brokers and/or clients to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties.
- Analytical skills to visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze, and solve complex problems to make key business decisions.
- Interpersonal Savvy to build excellent interpersonal relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues to improve personal profile and reputation within AXA XL and the broader market.
- Strategy and Planning skills to make underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plans and deliver results, with knowledge of financial targets and levers to deliver on departmental business plans.
- Industry Knowledge to understand the insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business by improving personal technical and functional knowledge.
