About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional with strong finance management skills to support our team in a dynamic organisation. As a Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Processing payroll and administering staff salaries and superannuation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Managing supplier and vendor invoices, ensuring prompt payment and maintaining good relationships.
- Overseeing bookkeeping and accurately maintaining internal ledgers, providing transparent and reliable financial information.
- Supporting grass roots Party Units in payments to suppliers and tracking fundraising activities, enhancing their capacity and effectiveness.
- Supporting preparation of the annual budget and delivering quarterly reports, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
- Providing weekly budget inputs during campaign periods, ensuring timely and informed decision-making.
- Reconciling account lines and maintaining accurate financial records, upholding high standards of integrity and accountability.
- Preparing and lodging BAS and IAS statements with the relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Using Xero to manage daily operations efficiently and effectively, maximising productivity and minimising errors.
Strategic & Campaign Support
You will also assist in developing detailed campaign budgets alongside the State Director and Campaign Manager, supporting long-term financial planning in collaboration with the Treasurer and State Executive, and providing reporting inputs for the Treasurer's presentations to the State Executive.
Compliance & Training
Additionally, you will support the audit process and compliance with state and federal funding and disclosure obligations, maintain and expand your portfolio's knowledge base, and assist the Manager, Governance & Compliance in delivering training to Party Office Bearers on their statutory and financial responsibilities.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience using Xero or similar accounting software, with a strong understanding of its capabilities and limitations.
- CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, enabling effective data analysis and presentation.
- Previous experience in management accounting within a medium-sized business or not-for-profit organisation, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work, upholding high standards of integrity and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines, prioritising tasks and managing time effectively.
- Experience working with member-based or volunteer-led organisations, understanding their unique challenges and opportunities.
- An interest in politics or current affairs, demonstrating a passion for making a positive impact.
- Understanding of the Liberal Party's Constitution and values, aligning with the organisation's mission and goals.
