Senior Systems Administrator

This role is with a high-profile government department, delivering high-impact desktop and end-user computing support across Queensland Government agencies.

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you'll act as a technical subject matter expert, supporting and managing Microsoft Windows and O365 desktop environments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support across Microsoft Products, Azure, and O365 platforms
  • Administer and maintain desktop environments, operating systems (Windows 10/11), and virtual desktops (VDIs)
  • Deploy and maintain desktop operating system images using tools like MECM and Omnissa Horizon
  • Respond to RFIs/RFPs and participate in workshops, POCs, and solution evaluations
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure compliance with ITIL/ITSM processes including change, incident, and problem management
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across enterprise infrastructure

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in system administration in enterprise/Government environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business needs into technical outcomes
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated accountability in following processes and meeting SLAs

Requirements:

  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM)
  • Active Directory + Group Policy
  • Windows 10/11 support, VDI support
  • Image maintenance and deployment (Omnissa Horizon)
  • ITSM/ITIL processes using ServiceNow or similar
  • Highly Regarded: Windows Server admin, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace admin, PowerShell or other scripting experience
